The overall aim of the NFP is to help alleviate qualitative and quantitative shortages of skilled manpower within a wide range of governmental, private and non-governmental organizations. This is done by offering fellowships to mid-career professionals to improve the capacity of their employing organizations.

9. NRF Freestanding, Innovation and Scarce Skills Masters and Doctoral Scholarships 2018
The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and the National Research Foundation (NRF), South Africa invite applications from Individuals who wants to obtain a Masters or Doctoral degree program from any South-African Universities.

Run by the German Academic Exchange Service, this scholarship offers opportunity to suitably qualified graduates with a first university degree who have interest in obtaining a Masters degree program in Public Policy at any German Institution.
Eligibility: Applicants must:
- be citizens of a developing country
- be in the field of social sciences, political sciences, law, economics and in public administration from Africa, Latin America, South Asia and Southeast Asia, or from countries in the Middle East as well as from the Ukraine.
- have completed their undergraduate studies
- have excellent results from previous educational programmes.
Successful applicants will receive:
- a six month German language course from April 2018 to September 2018.
- DAAD pays a monthly scholarship rate of currently €750.

Selection Criteria: The main DAAD criteria for selection are the following:

11. The Global Study Awards for International Students – 2018
